The Corporate Advisory Council was created to develop and enhance the joint strategies, efforts, and initiatives of professionals working in the various facets of provider compensation and the broader healthcare industry. The Council provides an opportunity to network with peers, AAPCP leadership, and share in the mission of growing the industry and profession.

Joe Aguilar has provided healthcare valuation and consulting services for over 28 years. He is a Partner with HMS Valuation Partners specializing in physician / hospital transactions as well as provider compensation design. Having completed thousands of fair market value engagements, Joe provides guidance to healthcare executives, physicians, and healthcare lawyers through a variety of complex financial arrangements. In addition to being a valuator, Joe is also a clinician with 19 years of experience as a nurse practitioner. He is double boarded in the specialty areas of Family Medicine and Women’s Health. Understanding the language and process of medicine has informed his approach to determining value and has helped navigate challenging conversations with physicians. As a national thought leader in healthcare valuation, Joe regularly publishes articles in recognized industry journals from MGMA, AHLA, and HCCA.
Richard Chasinoff

Richard Chasinoff

Director, Veralon

Richard Chasinoff has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in a wide range of executive and leadership roles. He is currently a Director with Veralon and focuses on physician compensation issues including design, health-system policy, and regulatory issues (including fair market value). More broadly, Rich provides fair market value guidance and transaction support on a wide range of healthcare transactions including those involving compensation for quality, management services, and the provision of resources. Rich previously held positions in strategy, operations, and planning at a number of community hospitals. Rich holds a bachelor degree (BS) from Cornell University and master degrees in healthcare administration (MHA) and business administration (MBA) from the University of Minnesota. Rich is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and holds the designations of certified valuation analyst (CVA) and accredited in business appraisal review (ABAR).

Anthony Domanico

Director Professional Service Agreements Division, VMG Health

Anthony Domanico is a Director in the Professional Service Agreements Division at VMG Health and is the head of VMG Health’s compensation design and consulting service line. His practice has a national focus on compensation design and consulting services for both employed and non-employed physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) within the healthcare services industry. Specifically, he assists clients in the development and design of clinical, administrative, and academic compensation structures that align provider incentives with the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of the organization. Mr. Domanico holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in social psychology from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He is designated as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.

Amy is the CEO at Statera, a healthcare software company that brings transparency to clinician compensation and performance. Prior to co-founding Statera, Amy led in a variety of roles in both health system and medical group operations and strategy, as well as digital health leadership. Trained at Harvard, Northwestern, and Brandeis University, she specializes in healthcare change management and process improvement. Amy is a marathon runner, latte-drinker, dog-lover, and aspiring hiker (once she gets over her fear of heights).

Prior to joining HealthCare Appraisers almost ten years ago, Nicole worked for various law practices specializing in taxation law research.
Dave Hesselink

Dave Hesselink

Dave Hesselink is a Principal in the Physician Workforce practice at SullivanCotter. Dave also serves as Co-Leader of the firm’s Fair Market Value and Valuation Practice. Dave has over 30 years of health care leadership experience in medical group chief financial officer and chief executive officer roles with large health systems like Centura Health and Alegent Creighton Clinic. During his career, he has also worked for other major health care organizations including the Cleveland Clinic, as well as other professional services firms. Since joining SullivanCotter in 2013, Dave has focused on physician and advanced practice provider (APP) compensation, assisting his clients with physician and APP alignment through compensation design, and physician compensation fair market value assessment. Dave is a frequent speaker on topics such as physician and APP compensation, physician compensation governance and fair market value and commercial reasonableness. Dave is also a member of SullivanCotter’s Fair Market Value Committee, which is responsible for firm guidelines and standards in this area. Dave holds both an MBA and MHA from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Additionally, he is a certified medical practice executive from the American College of Medical Practice Executives as well as a certified healthcare executive from the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Richard Romero

Richard Romero is a senior vice president at Coker Group. With over 20 years of healthcare experience, he has advised a range of clients from critical access hospitals to publicly traded hospital systems, physician practices, private equity, and a myriad of other industry participants. For the last 10 years, he has provided guidance to clients implementing various aspects of virtual care. He serves clients through consulting; valuation of provider compensation, financial arrangements and business enterprises and litigation support including expert witness testimony. He provides opinions on a variety of both typical and unique provider compensation arrangements. In addition to testimony regarding damages and valuation, he has assisted clients with financial analysis in support of regulatory self-disclosure. He has spoken on national platforms to legal and provider groups and has published articles on topics involving healthcare, litigation, and valuation. Currently, he is serving as a Co-Chair of the Distance Learning Committee for the American Bar Association (ABA). He has also served as an instructor for the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts Consultants Training Institute, earning Instructor of Great Distinction multiple years.

Tim Smith

Timothy Smith is the principal of TS Healthcare Consulting, where he focuses on a wide range of healthcare valuation and consulting services. His career in the healthcare industry has spanned three decades with a focus on healthcare regulatory compliance valuation for physician practices and physician compensation. Tim’s expertise includes more than 14 years with the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), where he designed and managed HCA’s fair market value compliance program for outside appraisals and reviewed hundreds of business and compensation valuations. He has also negotiated physician practice acquisition and divestiture transactions as well as served as a compliance officer. Recognized nationally as a thought leader in healthcare valuation, Tim speaks and publishes regularly within the industry. He is the coeditor of the BVR/AHLA Guide to Valuing Physician Compensation and Healthcare Service Arrangements, the industry’s leading textbook on physician compensation. Tim is a licensed certified public accountant in two states and holds the Accredited in Business Valuation credential from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Jared Steele

Jared Steele is Vice President for the Heisenberg II (HII) – provider compensation management solution. In that role, he leads HII growth initiatives and provides healthcare domain expertise to inform HII technology consideration and adoption.

In Jared’s prior role as a consultant with ECG Management Consultants, he helped lead the firm’s provider compensation administration and operations service area. In this capacity, Jared was instrumental in defining best practices for how to appropriately manage and administer provider compensation plans. Having worked with dozens of provider compensation administrative teams, Jared is acutely aware of the frustrations most medical groups experiences with respect to their provider compensation administration division.

Jared’s background and education in Health Informatics further defines his credentials and understanding of how health-based information is curated, transported, and utilized, across the continuum of health services.

Joe Wolfe represents a wide variety of health care clients nationwide and currently serves as the leader of Hall Render’s health care regulatory practice group. He has considerable experience with technical Stark and Anti-Kickback analysis, physician compensation and fair market value issues. He regularly assists clients with physician contracting, compensation model design, and internal compliance reviews involving physician arrangements, especially where compliance with Stark’s “Big 3” is at issue (i.e., fair market value, commercial reasonableness, potential incentives for referral volume/value). He is a frequent speaker nationally on these issues.
