The AAPCP Advisory Council

The AAPCP created the Advisory Council to establish best practices in provider compensation and contracting for professionals who manage, develop, monitor, and create compensation models and contracting for health systems and medical groups.  The members of the Advisory Council represent health systems with a total of over 300,000 employees, tens of thousands of healthcare professionals, and over 150 hospitals.

Director of Provider Compensation - Dartmouth-Hitchcock

I currently serve as the Director of Provider Compensation for Datmouth-Hitchcock. Previously, I worked for MercyOne Medical Group as a Physician Contract and Compensation Analyst. Some of my primary responsibilities include providing state-wide leadership for provider compensation for 15 hospitals and 200+ clinics; conducting market analysis for provider compensation and productivity; designing and drafting provider compensation plans; preparing documentation for board approval; and working collaboratively with the c-suite on compensation terms and to ensure compliance and legality. I also serve as adjunct faculty for Mercy College of Health Sciences in the Bachelors of Healthcare Administration Program.
I hold an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science – Medical Administrative Assistant from Hawkeye Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Mercy College of Health Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Des Moines University. In addition to my passion for healthcare and education, I also have a love for process improvement and human resources; so in addition to my formal degrees, I am a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

Vice President, Physician Network Administration - Lexington Medical Center

Cam currently serves as WellStar Medical Group’s Assistant Vice President of Provider Compensation. In this role, she leads compensation administration and advises on compensation strategy for 1,450+ providers of WMG, one of the largest multi-specialty medical groups in the Southeast. She previously served as AVP of Medical Group Development, where she provided leadership for the strategic growth of WMG and managed the physician practice acquisition process, physician recruitment, physician relations and the Mayo Clinic Care Network relationship. Prior to joining WellStar in 2010, Cam served as a Consultant and Engagement Manager for The Gallup Organization’s Healthcare Practice. In this capacity she worked with healthcare clients to implement cultural change processes to improve employee, patient and physician engagement to drive improved results. Additionally, she spent 8 years serving as Director of Strategic Planning and System Development for Palmetto Health, now Prisma Health, a multi-hospital system in South Carolina where she led the development of the system’s Strategic Plan and business development agenda. Cam holds a B.S. from the College of Charleston and an M.H.A. from the University of South Carolina.

Director of Physician Contracting - Baptist Health

Stephen Heet is a native of Lexington, KY who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of Kentucky in 2009. He then completed his Master’s degree in Business Administration/Healthcare Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2011. Stephen currently works as a part of the Baptist Health System specifically within the employed physician network known as the Baptist Health Medical Group (headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky with over 700+ physicians) as a Director of Physician Contracting. His responsibilities include system-wide compensation development, facilitation of strategic initiatives related to contract renewals and amendments, preparation of board materials for review and approval, and creation of PRN/professional service agreements. He has been employed within the Baptist Health System for over eleven years with the last five years focused on physician contracting.

Stephen resides in Lexington with his wife (Whitney), two sons (Wiley and Wesley) and dog (Tallulah). In his free time, Stephen enjoys traveling, playing golf, volunteering, working outside, and painting.”

Chief Financial Officer for the Physician Services Group for the Denver office of Hospital Corporation of America

Tina Hogeman is the Chief Financial Officer for the Physician Services Group for the Denver office of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). She is responsible for a portfolio of over 500 diverse healthcare providers representing all medical specialties.

Prior to working for HCA, she was the Chief Financial Officer for the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), the largest medical management association in the United States with over 60,000 members. MGMA developed the most extensive and commonly used database of physician compensation used for setting market expectations nationwide. MGMA is also a leader in training physician practice management professionals. At MGMA, she managed the organization’s investments, retirement plans, operations, and conference expenses. In addition, she was a sought-after presenter on medical practice management and accounting at MGMA’s national conferences.

Before MGMA, Tina built a highly successful healthcare accounting and consulting firm specializing in creation, management, acquisitions and divestitures of over 100 medical practices and 400 physicians across the Denver market. Tina is an accomplished executive Healthcare Operations and Finance specialist, a results oriented leader, and a recognized national expert and speaker on health care management and finance. Tina earned a Masters in Taxation from the University of Denver, a Masters in Finance from the University of Colorado, a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado. She has been a licensed CPA in Colorado for 35 years.

Alex Krouse

Alex Krouse

Associate General Counsel - Parkview Health

Alex Krouse is Associate General Counsel for Parkview Health where he leads the provider contracting and compensation assessment processes for its 900+ provider medical group. He serves as a key legal partner for system-wide compensation modeling, provider alignment strategies, and medical group legal issues. Previously Mr. Krouse was in private practice where he practiced as a part of a national healthcare practice focusing on high risk fraud and abuse issues, health system-provider alignment, and compliance effectiveness programs. He graduated with honors from DePauw University and with a dual JD/MHA from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Eric Leafgreen

Director of Physician Compensation - GenesisCare

Eric Leafgreen is the provider compensation director at Banner Health based in Phoenix, Arizona. His responsibilities include assessing Fair Market Value and commercial reasonableness for all employed and contracted health care providers throughout the Banner Health organization. He also is responsible for advising on the development of provider compensation plans, acquisition of physician practices, and provider pay practices.

Prior to joining Banner Health, Eric worked as a public accountant where he provided tax services, valuation and transactional advisory services, and consulted on the management of provider compensation programs for health systems. Eric holds a Master’s in Professional Accountancy from Indiana University Kelley School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

Jin Hee Lee

AVP, Physician Services at Hospital for Special Surgery

Jin is AVP, Physician Services at Hospital for Special Surgery. Formerly Jin worked as the Director of Physician Contracting for Atlantic Medical Group, the physician enterprise of Atlantic Health System. As part of the management leadership team, Jin serves as a liaison between administrators and physicians in designing physician compensation, interpreting plans and amendments, and leading the negotiation process for the organization. Formerly, she was VP, Physician Relations and Contracts at Mount Sinai Health System aka Continuum Health Partners.
Jin graduated from Boston University and has an MBA/MS from Temple University.
Joe Mendenhall

Director of Provider Contracting, Compensation & Recruiting - Premier Health

Mr. Mendenhall is director of provider contracting and compensation at Premier Health. He has over 15 years of experience in physician finance and provider compensation with specialized interest in negotiating provider contracts and development of compensation models and policies to ensure regulatory compliance and standardization across service lines. Mr. Mendenhall received his undergraduate from the Cumberland College (KY) and a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan.

Brian Newell

Vice President of Provider Contracting and Compensation - AMITA Health

Brian is the Vice President of Provider Contracting and Compensation for AMITA Health, the largest health system in Illinois. In his role, Brian oversees the health system’s economic relationships with providers via leading the practice acquisition process, negotiating employment and compensation terms with new and existing physicians, and collaborating with local and regional leaders to develop other physician alignment strategies. Prior to joining AMITA Health, Brian was a member of the Strategy team at Northwestern Medicine where he worked on post-merger integration initiatives, service line growth and development strategies, physician compensation model re-design, and developing the organization’s telemedicine strategy. Before joining Northwestern, Brian was a member of Navigant Consulting’s payment transformation team where he advised both commercial payers and provider-sponsored health plans regarding growth opportunities and cost reduction initiatives.
Brian received his Masters Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Management from Providence College.

Grace Ruben

Assistant Vice President, Physician Compensation Design for Northwell Health

Grace Ruben serves as Assistant Vice President, Physician Compensation Design for Northwell Health, the largest health system in New York State with 23 hospitals and more than 4,800 employed physicians. Since 2016 she has led efforts to develop standardized compensation models and evaluate compensation arrangements for physician leaders. Prior to Northwell, Ms. Ruben held various roles within administration at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, including as administrative director for the department of pathology, and executive and physician compensation administrator. She received her bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard College, and MBA from the Yale School of Management.

Program Director of Provider Compensation - Yale New Haven Health System

Benjamin Tudor is the Provider Compensation Program Director for Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), where he oversees physician and non-physician provider compensation programs and other business arrangements between YNHHS’ five delivery networks and both employed and independent providers across Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. Prior to joining YNHHS, Ben was a Manager with a national healthcare management consulting and advisory firm, where he led the delivery of the firm’s business valuation, physician compensation, and provider transaction advisory services. Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts from Centre College (Danville, KY) and a Master of Health Administration from the Sloan Program in Health Administration at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). He is a Certified Valuation Analyst of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
